Hi Michelle. The best I can say has been said in this article and the companion article about choosing a pet sitter which there is a link for above. Like many informal internet-based industries, it is unregulated and relies on trust. That means there are excellent pet sitters and also some very dodgy ones. You just have to go in with your eyes open

My husband and I are booked to go overseas for 7 weeks over the Christmas period and we were hoping to have a sitter at our house to look after our dog and cat.
Is this a safe option and what should we be looking for in an animal/house sitter?
