Hi Elmarie. Your experience is not unusual. I've discussed another option (currently off-label) in our page on ticks.

Hi Andrew, we live in Qld and I recently gave my cats Bravecto Plus as we live opposite a bush and my Norwegian Forest cat seems to pick up some ticks there,. I have managed to keep her tick free, but they land on my couch and bed too! She loves being outdoors. The Bravecto however had a very bad reaction on my Abyssinian male cat and he pulled mouthful of hair out till I took him to my local vet who confirmed that Bravecto is most probably the cause of his distress. He was on cortisone meds and recovered. Problem is: what do I do to keep them save from ticks?
