The neurological signs associated with isoxazolines are twitching, tremors and occasionally seizures. I have seen them in a single case. As for any other illnesses, it’s hard to be sure but we have to be careful. If we blame it for any subsequent illness, the use of Bravecto (or every other pharmaceutical for that matter) will be problematic unless dogs are immortal after its use.

I gave Bravecto to my two English Cocker Spaniels for 2 doses only. The older one got the same sudden lameness and loss of voice that you describe. Two years later, his voice is still not normal. Our younger dog died of an aggressive GI cancer at age 3.5 years (2 years after the Bravecto). It took me forever to get a vet to admit that the neurological symptoms came from Bravecto, but I’m sure none will be willing to ascribe the cancer to the drug.

Hi Andrew. I’m sorry to hear of your loss. Loss of voice and lameness are not likely to be associated with a systemic treatment of any sort. Similarly, skin growths and cancer are exceedingly common as dogs age. Therefore, the use of Bravecto or any other treatment is unlikely to be causative, but I understand your point of view.

Hi Bhoomika. I will reply on her behalf as she will not get a notification. Bravecto will only work quickly when it is an uncomplicated parasitic disease. Many dogs need another short-term treatment even when parasites are the cause, to settle down secondary issues like infection or self trauma.

I have recently give my dogs bravecto for fleas.
It’s been two days and there are no positive response in her skin issue , even it’s still increasing. Can you tell me how long it took for your dog to show positive effect after taking bravecto ?

The risks should also be discussed at length with any vet that carries this product as well!

Right, you may not see it even know what is happening inside your dog. Mine was healthy before the first dose, 1 to 3 months later had kidney function change/issue, then little after month 3, fluid in every lobe of lungs and heart enlargement and we lost her early Thursday morning in an oxygen chamber in animal hospital ER with max doses of Lasix that couldn’t touch it!
Vomiting throughout the 3 months, lost 7 pounds, couldnt stand well on back legs, trembled and fell out from under her, hair fell out in clumps, lost good portion of hearing, lethargic, loss of appetite, and more, no doubt in my mind it was Bravecto!!!
Labs, exams etc…were all done right before administration of Bravecto and came with flying colors and my dog was an inside dog, Border Collie, Piper. This is a BAD product.
