thank you so much. I will try anallergic and see if it makes a difference to my dog's licking etc. Sorry one last question, it's not grain free is it? I read grain free can slowly kill your dog.

Hi Debra. They are completely different foods with different origins. Other RC foods will not give us a response and Anallergenic should in most cases of food allergy (this is made using hydrolysed feather protein!)

Hi Dr Andrew, I'm interested in trying the Royal Canin Anallergic to see if my dog has food allergies rather than environmental. However my dog has been eating Royal Canin Dental version for years. Will swapping to the anallergic version for the trial be pointless (I.e., will they have ingredients shared across the 2 versions of food?) Thank you in advance.

Hi Vanessa. The reason is probably that the diet improved the skin oils, but did not deal with the allergy itself (which is much less likely to be to food than to environmental allergens). If I were you I would not spend too much time trying to get the food to fix a skin problem but instead have a chat with your vet about what else you can do.

I started making my own food as per your recipe, my Rhodesian ridgeback has skin problems & she becomes “smelly” after 3 weeks the difference was amazing so I kept going but all of a sudden she has regressed with itches & smell, the protein hasn’t changed so I don’t know what went wrong, very disheartening…
