Good afternoon,
I was very interested to read your article on the origin of canine parvovirus.
What interested me most was your mention of conspiracy theories related to the disease.
At the time that parvo came about in the late 1970's I was a breeder and trainer of kelpies which caused me to be interested in the new disease, and at that time worked for Hoechst Animal Health. (I previously worked for Merck Sharp & Dohme Animal Health)
I had numerous conversations with our company vet on this issue.
You may not realise that at this time [deleted]released a range of cat & dog vaccines onto the market in Australia only to withdraw them all a few months later. It was stated that this was a tempory withdrawal, but they withdrew them all permanently throughout the world. It is a very hard topic to research but I think the conclusion that we came to at the time of a mutation in their feline panleukopenia virus attenuated vaccine may be very close to the mark.
Kind regards,
Greg Harris
