Hi Andrew,
We have moved to a small farm of 85 hectares.
North of Eudunda, nearest neighbours 5kms.
This year the garden and paddock have mixed grass 90cm high , we have 200 sheep grazing.
We have two German Short Haired Points both 3 years old 38kg.
How should we treat the dog for fleas, and worms . Thank you. Simon

Hi Lynn. The environment you describe sounds low risk, however Lewiston is also heavily populated with dog breeders so the dog population in your area is quite high.
I assume you are using Dimmitrol because you have heard about collies having a bad reaction to other preventatives. This is really only true for ivermectin – any of the other products appear extremely safe in any breed. In particular, NexGard Spectra and Simparica Trio would be good choices for someone moving into a tick area who also wants to cover heartworm and fleas.

Hi there. My Rough ollue has been on Dimmitrol 200 mg 1 tablet per day for 8 years. I buy them on line but they are getting harder to find now. Could you advise me on whether to keep him on them or not to bother. I live in Lewiston on a farm and do have lots of mozzies outside during summer. However he is a totally indoor dog, except when outside with me. It's possible that I will be moving to Queensland in about 12 months or so and know he will need to be protected from heartworm and Ticks when I do finally move. Your advice would be very much appreciated. Lynn
