I myself just bought a puppy from fairfield markets in sydney called anthonys pets it my puppy has gardia and also coxcidia and waiti g on one more test he as soso sick picking up now im just so glad i saved him
These people need to be dealt with severely

In reply to Brad. Hi Brad. It starts with a trip to the vet. There are multiple drugs that can be used, combined with environmental decontamination at the same time. The cost will depend on how quickly the giardia is resolved and how much resistance has already developed in the bug (which my in my view seems to be related to whether either the breeders of the pet shop have had access to drugs in the past, as this makes it worse).

If you have more then one dog in the household what would your recommendations be and cost +_ per a dog to rectify? Thank you

Bought a spoodles from boutique paws 2 half weeks ago gorgeous thing but has been a nightmare — having three grandchildren too look after —- while mum working . So took her to nearest vet East side vet and with sample diagnosed with giardia . I’m furious—- rang RSPCA EXPLAINED all details which they said they will follow up in the mean time l have another dog which l thought ld better follow up with sample —NOW GARDIA!!
PLEASE SOME ONE OF AUTHORITY check this shop as there is going to be not only puppies sick BUT CHILDREN after Christmas!!!

Seems a bit harsh to act as though the pet shops don’t give a crap
They clearly do as you can’t be involved with puppies as they are and not get invested
My puppy that I bought was fussy and did have a few settling in issues but the vet care I had and support over the phone was amazing
Bought to the attention of the business owners now let them take the advice and rectify the issues
You need to have GOOD pet shops to help you find the right puppy so you don’t buy a pup then hand it to the rspca once it’s an adult.

You have my great respect and admiration for bringing this matter to public attention using such reasoned argument in such a polite manner.

I must admit I was astonished to learn that SA law still permits both puppy farming and the sale of puppies and kittens in pet shops as in Victoria this was prohibited by the Puppy Farms & Pet Shops Act of 2018. If pet stores wish to sell puppies and kittens they are now required to liaise with animal shelters to re-home animals.
