Hi Caroline. I’m so sorry to hear that. It must’ve been extremely distressing. Regarding your question, I don’t think there’s a way to make raw chicken safe except by cooking it thoroughly. For raw diets, we need to use other meats.

Hi Andrew, Thanks for your huge amount of time in this blog...if thats what this is. I was looking for a good source of raw meaty bones for my 18 week std poodle who was fed chicken carcases and Advance and other raw things by his breeder. THEN I red re the Guillian Bar problem and raw chicken. My darling Silver, a poodle, died a few years ago of this horrid disease. We nursed our quadruplegic but not incontinent dog for about 3 months. I wish we had put him to sleep cos he suffered immenswely under the beleif that he would get better. When the dog hospital in [deleted] put in a feeding tube.....sorry....thats when they shouold have advised us to let him escape his misery. SO, NOW I am seriousle scared of raw chicken. If one pours boiling water onto he chicken to sort of clean it, bofore feeding the dog, would that help to remove the salmonella....just a little??
