Thank you Rita. I have different information, and I would love you to reply with yours. I must stress though that the Somali breed is of no concern and whether it be a mutation or not, the coat change has no health implications.

interesting article. i agree with much of it… however the Somali does not have a mutation, it simply has 2 copies of the longhair gene. same as any other longer haired cat. the coat has no difference to any other longhaired cat in structure
