Dog Parks in the Region

North Adelaide Dog Park

Located in the parklands between North Adelaide and Robe Terrace, it is bounded by Lefevre, Medindie and Main North Roads. It has two fenced areas: one for small dogs and puppies, and another for large dogs. The park has quickly become very popular among our clients. The two adjacent parks called Kangattilla and Kandarilla permit off-leash exercise but these areas are unfenced. Consult this map for these and other off-leash areas.

Broadview Dog Park

This is also a close dog park and is found next to Broadview oval on McInnes Avenue, Broadview. This small dog park is fully fenced and has basic obstacles such as jumps, logs, and tunnels with shelters, seating, footpaths, double gates. It will be a nice change of sights and smells for your furry friend.

Local Off-leash areas

If you go across the St Peters swing bridge (you’ll need to carry your dog or walk on to a regular bridge) and turn right on the footpath you will come to a wide grassed oval between the river and the St Peters Billabong. It is called LG Perriam Memorial Oval (St Peters River Park).

There is a shaded barbecue area nearby with free electric barbecues, toilets, drinking fountain and dogs’ water bowl. The main entrance is through the carpark off River St or from Eighth Ave, Goss Crt or Torrens St through the Linear Park. Doggy bag dispensers and bins are at all these entrances. An informal group of dog owners with well-socialised dogs of all sizes is usually there from late afternoon to 5.30pm in the winter and from 5.30 to 7.30pm during daylight saving.

Within minutes of leaving your house it’s possible to pretend you’re not in the city at all. It’s a lovely walk in either direction along the River Torrens Linear Park, either downstream to the city or upstream to Walkerville. Alternatively, a stroll around the horse agistment area north of Melbourne Street is like a rural encounter in the heart of the city.

Featured Pet-friendly Venue

There are a number of excellent cafés along Melbourne Street within an easy walk of Gilberton. One of the best is Cibo Espresso (pictured left). The consistent quality of the coffee and the leafy courtyard with outdoor shelter are unparalleled in the region and make this ideal for meeting friends with dogs or a quiet read.

In the other direction along Walkerville Terrace is Local Grind. It’s a peaceful place found behind Walkerville Village Shopping Centre and under the apartments. You can also walk here along the Linear Park and cross at the Lands Dept footbridge.
