North Adelaide

Welcome to our guide to the best places for dogs in or near North Adelaide, a treasure trove of parks, squares and parklands for dogs.

Dog Parks in the Region

North Adelaide Dog Park

fenced park between North Adelaide and Robe Terrace
A product of very enlightened leadership by Adelaide City Council, it is located in the parklands between North Adelaide and Robe Terrace. It has two fenced areas for both small and large dogs, double gates, shelters, water etc. The park has quickly become very popular among our clients. The two adjacent parks called Kangattilla and Kandarilla allow off-leash exercise but these areas are unfenced.

Sam Johnson Reserve Puppy Park

Also quite close at Bolingbroke Ave Renown Park is this new Puppy Park. The Puppy Park welcomes all puppies under 12 months and the surrounding reserve provides a large area for older dogs to use.

Local Off-leash areas

Apart from the North Adelaide Dog Park, other off-leash areas can be viewed on this map.

Recommended Walks

grounds at Horse Agistment Area
North Adelaide is so blessed with abundant parkland that the choice of walks is endless. Favourites are an early morning stroll in the North Golf Course or a walk around the Horse Agistment Area (pictured), where you could be forgiven for feeling you weren’t in the city at all.

Featured Pet-friendly Venue

This suburb wins the prize for the sheer number of possible venues to include here. Both the O’Connell Street and the Melbourne Street sides are packed with quality cafe’s and restaurants offering outdoor seating and water bowls for dogs. As yet, no-one has tried offering cat-friendly facilities but it must be just a matter of time. Truly an embarrassment of riches and no dog needs to be left at home here.

Courtyard at Melbourne Street Cibo EspressoOn Melbourne Street a great choice is Cibo Espresso (right). The quality of the coffee and foodstuffs are legendary. The leafy courtyard with outdoor shelter is unparalleled in the region and make this ideal for meeting friends with dogs or a quiet read.
