Welcome to our guide to the best places for dogs in or near St Peters, Adelaide.
St Peters and the adjacent River Torrens provide many peaceful and picturesque walks for dogs.
Dog Parks in the Region
There are no nearby Dog Parks. Off-leash parks at Hannaford reserve and the oval at the Billabong function as de facto dog parks. See more on these below.
If you travel further afield, the North Adelaide Dog Park is an excellent choice with small and large dog areas. The dark areas on this map show off leash parks.
Visit this page to discover more Adelaide dog parks and how they differ from other off-leash areas.
Local Off-leash areas
River Torrens Linear Park: Although you will often see dogs off-leash here, this is officially a leashed area. It does join up with off-leash areas at Felixstow Reserve, Drage Reserve (Felixtowe), LG Perriam Memorial Oval (St Peters River Park). The shared bike/pedestrian path can get hazardous at times.
Hannaford Reserve: Cnr Winchester Street and Seventh Avenue, St Peters. This is a fenced park with seating, fenced playground equipment, doggy bags, bins and a cricket pitch. The gates can be a problem as they often do not close if not carefully shut. There is a strong group of regular attendees who maintain a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
Otto Park: Location – Cnr Second Avenue and St Peters Street, St Peters
LG Perriam Memorial Oval: (St Peters River Park) within the River Torrens Linear Park
This is a large, well-grassed off-lead area between the River Torrens and the St Peters billabong. It is unfenced but well away from any road. There is a shaded barbecue area nearby with free electric BBQ’s, toilets, drinking fountain and dogs’ water bowl. Main entrance through the carpark off River St or from Eighth Ave, Goss Crt or Torrens St through the Linear Park.
Doggy bag dispensers and bins are at all these entrances. An informal group of friendly, responsible dog owners with well socialised dogs of all sizes are usually there from late afternoon to 5.30pm in the winter and from 5.30 to 7.30pm during daylight saving.

Featured dog-friendly venues:
St Peters Bakehouse: Stephen Terrace. Where else could we mention? This bakery and cafe has literally been a central part of the suburb for as long as we know. The bakery goods are top rate (Tinker thinks the crumbs are OK too) and the coffee’s good.
Another nice place can be easily reached from the upper end of the Linear Park by crossing the old Lands Department footbridge to the new units in Walkerville. Local Grind is a quiet place for yourdog to rest while you have a meal, snack or coffee.
