Welcome to our guide to the best places for dogs in or near Vale Park, Adelaide.
Vale Park dogs benefit from a prime location adjacent to Walkerville and the River Torrens.
Dog Parks in the Region
North Adelaide Dog Park
Located in the parklands between North Adelaide and Robe Terrace, it is bounded by Lefevre, Medindie and Main North Roads. It has two well-maintained fenced areas for both small and large dogs, and has a loyal and dedicated following among our clients. The two adjacent parks permit off-leash exercise but these areas are unfenced. See this map and look for the dark green areas.
Broadview Dog Park
Next to Broadview oval – McInnes Avenue, Broadview. This dog park is well fenced and has basic obstacles such as jumps, logs, tunnels. There is no grass but it is quite shady and the adjacent oval is there for this who want a run.
Bentley Reserve Dog Playground
Access via Aurama St or Bentley Drive, Holden Hill. This dog playground is fully fenced and contains a mixture of basic obstacles and open space to enable dogs to run free and socialise with other dogs. There are two areas: one for small dogs and puppies and a large area with an artificial mound for large/ adult dogs. Shelters, seating, footpaths and dual use drink fountains are provided.
Adelaide Dog Parks
Local Off-leash areas
There are three areas in Vale Park that are designated a ‘off leash at all times’. These are:
- Hamilton Reserve & Stewart Ave Park
- Levi Park Reserve, Lansdowne Terrace
- Frome Reserve, Jeffrey Road
The River Torrens Linear Park links up with reserves in Klemzig, Felixtow and St Peters, but all are a decent walk away.
River Torrens Linear Park: The section through Vale Park is one of the nicest parts of our river. A before- or after-work stroll through the majestic river red gums will bring you into contact with many other like-minded people in a beautiful natural setting.
Featured Pet-friendly Venue
Due to the residential nature of Vale Park, the best bets for a drink or snack will be a walk to either adjacent suburb.
At the front of the Walkerville Village Shopping Centre is a very thoughtfully designed area with places to leash your dog and water provided. The setting on Walkerville Terrace adjacent the Linear Park is attractive and interesting and the Nest Cafe Bar Bistro serves a good coffee plus meals.
Behind the shopping centre and underneath the apartment building is a friendly cafe called Local Grind. If you’re walking along the Linear Park river path it’s the perfect choice. Simply cross at the old Lands Department footbridge and it’s right in front of you.
