Hi Cynthia. Your vets are doing a good job with this unusual lump and I can't say more. Just keep following up if you're worried.

I have a 2 year old toy poodle that had a pea size lump under the skin on her abdomen, vet said it was unusual when biopsy was done, was filled with milky mucus. Lump was totally drained during biopsy through fine needle aspiration. 3 days later it's starting to fill back up. Vet thought it might be infection so prescribed gentimicin spray. Have to wait 3 weeks for results. should I be as worried as I am about this

Hi I have a 7 year old female Chihuahua mix dog. She was spayed at 3 years if age. In February I felt a lump on her chest. I flipped her belly up and saw that she has a lump a little bigger than a quarter under her skin above her ribcage. It is semi soft and moveable. Sometimes it seems smaller than other times. Given my financial situation I don’t have the resources to pay for her treatment should it be something serious. Should I be worried? I love my little girl very much.

Hi Diane. I can think of three possibilities: one, that it was still there but just not found during the consultation given it is so small, two, that it is fluid filled and so will change in size, and three that it is inflammatory. In either case I would market out well and go back to the vet when it is present.

Hi! I have a mix lab with giant schnauzer girl who is 4. She’s an active, happy girl. She has a lump ( size of a quarter) on her side of her ribs. The lump is hard and does not move. I made an appointment with the vet to get a biopsy and when we took her in, the lump had shrunk and was not visible, so the vet told me to monitor the area. A week later, the lump returned to the size of a quarter. It is so strange but I was wondering if you have ever seen something like this before?

Hi Jovana. There’s no reason to be at a loss. Your vets are giving you good information and if you just follow their advice you should be okay. It’s not possible to say what it is without a biopsy.

Hi, I have a 4yr old female labradoodle, spayed, and she has a hard, immobile lump on her right side on the ribs/close to her armpit about the size of a small golf ball. We took her to the vet and had it x-rayed and the vet said it's not bone healing from a fracture and recommended a biopsy surgery because it's looking like a cancerous mass. What type of Cancer grows there? Could it possibly be an enlarged lymph node? Should we continue to monitor it instead of opting for the biopsy? It hasn't changed size in at least a month since we've noticed it. I am at a loss...

My 10 and a half y.o. male black lab/pitbull has a grape sized lump on his left lower rib cage. It is fairly squishy and movable. He is very healthy/active in great shape, but I am very concerned due to his age. My research suggests a lipoma but your opinion would be appreciated. Obviously I know a Vet diagnosis is best, but until then... Thanks so much
Sincerly,
