The unusual part is that their price was the same as all the other vets . We initially took her in at 6 months and the price was in same range as other local vets. They sent us home stating she was in heat, this was in November. She didn't go into heat until early January and finished her cycle mid January. Since they were the same price for before 1st heat l would of expected they would be the same as the other vets for after having her 1st one. You might wish that more people shopped around and looked prices but as a long standing customer l should be able to trust my vet. If every vet had mark ups like this for every different procedure l would spend my time having to go to a different clinic every time . At the end of the day
$550 more than the 11 other vets for the same procedure is just wrong. So is telling someone their dog is in season when she wasn't. If vets want to mark up prices that much they need to be open and honest about why not lead people to believe it's what they would pay anywhere else. No one can tell me that they don't know they are charging excessively.

Hi, Eileen. Price variations like this do occur, and I wish more people investigated the prices – for example, we keep desexing prices on our website for easy comparison. Normally, however, price variations like this do include some differences such as including blood testing.

Hmm, what about the vet who charged me 1200 dollars for desexing a a 25 kg female dog and then l find out from other vets that it's only around 650 dollars. That's a huge difference. No excuses there was nothing else involved just a standard Spey. Shame on ripping people off.
