27 Dog Parks In South Australian Towns

If you plan a driving holiday in SA, it is good to know where you can let your dog out for a run. The good news is that most towns, even small ones, now have a fenced off-leash area.

The Google map allows you to see where they are and after that is a list with each dog park address. Unlike our list of Adelaide suburban dog parks, we have not visited them all so in some cases we are relying on information from dog owners and local councils.

Please note: we’ve only included parks that we believe to be fully fenced and not shared with other users. If you know of more, or want to make a comment about any on our list, please, please do below!

Dog Parks in Regional SA

Berri: Off Leash Dog Park

Within Colin Jennings Apex Park, enter off Old Sturt Hwy opposite Lean St.

Burra

Dog Park, Smelts Rd, Burra North.

Two enormous enclosures overlooking the town with good gates, fences, shade and water. Not watered so quite dry with some grass seeds in Summer-Autumn.

Clare

Pioneer Park, Pioneer Ave.

Smallish single park just north of the main street.

Coonalpyn

Dog Exercise Area, Dukes Hwy. Small single park. Believe it or not, this was the first South Australian dog park, opening in 1995!

A little hard to find as its main access is on the other side of the railway line. You get to it from the Duke’s by crossing a walkway opposite Morton St or driving around.

Farrell Flat

Duncan Park Off-Leash Dog Park. Cameron Terrace. 2 separate large areas with double gates, water, bin, poo bags.  Obstacle course in one. Bench seat in each. Lawned but each with a scrubby treed area along one side.

Hawker War Memorial Dog Park

Corner of Flinders Ranges way and Chace View Terrace. Two identical large areas with shaded seating and some obstacles. Presumably dog owners can choose which one to use based on the other dogs at the time.

Kadina Dog Park

cnr Doswell & East Terrace.

Small, single park with bark chips and small grassed area plus agility equipment, water.

Loxton Off Leash Dog Park

136 Bookpurnong Road (adjacent Loxton Tennis Club)

Mannum Enclosed Off Leash Park

Mannum Oval, North Tce. Between the football oval and netball/tennis courts. Grass, trees, a dirt area with a built in pipe for a tunnel and a concrete path around a sniffing garden. Double gated. On Hardy Street, opposite the golf club

Meningie Dog Park

Meningie Community Sports Ground, Narrung Road

Single park with water, shelter, seating and dog exercise equipment.

Moonta Dog Park

Corner Robert Street and Bay Road

Single park with good fencing, jumps, tunnels, tall trees. Not a big area but well-designed, and close to undercover BBQ, playground and toilets. Thanks to Lorna for this.

Mt Barker: Barka Park

Access from end of Zanker Drive (nr Bluestone Estate). Signposted from Flaxley Rd.
Vast large dog area with range of amusements; separate small dog area also good sized, mostly grass.

Mt Gambier

Hastings Cunningham Reserve Dog Park, Shepherdson Rd.

Huge double dog park separated into small and large dog areas. Many amusements and obstacles plus water and shade.

Murray Bridge

Murray Bridge has several off-leash areas, but does not appear to have a designated ‘dog park’ as such. The closest in function seems to be Kuchel Park, at Lot 524 Lachlan Avenue.

Naracoorte

Market Square Dog Park, MacDonnell Street, Naracoorte

A medium-sized single dog park. Gates don’t have automatic latches so care needed when closing.

Nuriootpa Dog Park

Penrice Road, in the linear park opposite the school sports field.
A long, narrow single park parallel to the road with a central ridge. Nice leash walks nearby.

Peterborough

Dog Park, Telford Ave (Main St). Western end of town, just past Steamtown on the opposite side of the road (next to the Nissen Hut).

A medium-sized single park with dry ground at the front and a beautifully maintained grass area, plus picnic table.

Port Broughton

Single bone shaped large grassed area bordered by a path and sand. Located on the southern edge of town past the caravan park between the Spencer Highway and the coast. Easy access to a quiet beach.

Port Elliot

Dog Park, Kurramin Ct (Waterport Heritage Reserve). Greyhounds are being allowed to exercise off leash here between 9 and 11am every second Sunday (the park is closed to other dogs at this time). Check the Alexandrina website for more info and see also West Torrens.

Quorn Dog Park

Corner of East Terrace and First Street. Large single park with many trees. Jumps, slides and other activities for dogs.

Renmark

Off Leash Dog Park, cnr Seventeenth & Paringa St.

A large single park with shade trees and tunnels.

Tailem Bend

Rogers Park, North Terrace/Railway Tce.

Fairly small single park, recently upgraded, and a welcome respite on the way.

Tintinara

Dog Exercise Area, Dukes Hwy

Single dog park right on the Dukes Highway opposite Gully Street.

Truro Enclosed Off Leash Park

Pioneer Park, Moorundie Street.
A very small dog park with dog water and adjacent parking set back behind a children’s play area in the main street. Very useful for a short stop on the way to or from Adelaide.

Victor Harbor

cnr of George Main Rd and Oval Park Rd. Small and large dog exercise areas.

Waikerie Off Leash Dog Park

Sichler Street (opposite the Waikerie Bowling Club)

Wallaroo Dog Park

Heritage Drive

Medium sized single park, no grass in 2021
